"A single rose can be my garden... a single friend can be my world." Leo Buscaglia

I drew this picture to show the meaning of true friends. (Sorry the writing is backwards), but what the writing says is:

"Don't try to be someone your not, Don't try and act as someone else would. Always be true to yourself because one day when you need a friend, they won't be there anymore. Always know who your true friends are..."

A simple picture can have a big meaning.

"The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will"

This is another image i drew. The point of this picture was to show people that you can't interpret art when looking at it once. You have to look closely to see what the art actually is and what it means. This picture shows a face cut up into different pieces, almost like a jig-saw puzzle. It tells me that you have to put the pieces of any picture together to see what the piece of art is. I think this is the real meaning of art.

"What is art but a way of seeing?" Thomas Berger

Drawn on the 11/08/11
This picture i drew tells me something. It may just look like an eye but it has a deeper meaning. It shows us that you can't quite work out a piece of art just by looking at it. Every piece of art has a deeper meaning to it. You have to look deeper into the painting to interpret it's true meaning. And that's what this eye symbolises.

"One original thought is worth a thousand mindless quotings" Banksy

Another artist who i love is Banksy. Banksy creates realistic pictures and paints them on walls where no one would think to look. I think this shows off who he is and makes him an individual. Above, i drew one of banksy's most famous painting called "sweeping wall." I interpreted Banksy's drawing and tried to draw it similar to the way that Banksy drew it. This shows us how art can be expressed in different ways. Banksy's work is unusual, yet exciting. And that's how i want my work to be thought of as well.

"The essence of drawing is the line exploring space." Andy Goldsworthy

One of my favourite artists at the moment is Andy Goldsworthy. Coincidentally, we learnt about Andy in our Art lessons this year at school. The picture above symbolises what art is. Art can be anything you want it to be, and done however you want to do it. He takes landscapes and natural objects in the environment and turns them into art. Wherever he is. The picture below shows us how he demonstrates this. He took some old stones and used them in the most simple way to create a piece of Art. He inspires me to be creative and to use what i have around me and to create Art. There are many other artists that inspire me to be creative in different ways. Everyone has passions and hobbies- art is mine. And i couldn't be interested in Art without artists inspiring me. Andy is one of those people.

"Every good painter paints what he is" Jackson Pollock

This quote is how i feel about art. Every time you pick up a pencil or a paintbrush, you draw things that reflect who you are. Even without knowing it. When i was 4 i used to draw a bright, yellow sun in the corner of my page. And at the time i didn't realize it but i drew a sun because it reflected who i am and my personality.

Now, when i pick up my pencil, i draw things like landscapes and people. And this reflects who i am and my mood. It just shows how you can quickly change in your lifetime.

Art- What i love to do

I'm Ellie Taylor, a 14 year old school girl from London.
I love drawing and painting in my free time.
Next year i will be doing art for my gcse's and i wanted to make this blog to show all of the pieces of art work that i have already done. And that's what inspired me to create this blog.

My grandpa loves to paint, and he was one of the people who got me to love art. From a young age i have painted and drawn pictures and i want to continue this in the future.

Below are some of the pictures i have drawn recently and when i was younger. Leave your comments or suggestions to tell me other things i could draw or paint.
